I remember visiting Donna Deming in Ardmore, Texas. Mike Deming was the love of her life. If there is a heaven, may they meet there.
Donna Sue (Thomason) Deming, daughter of the late Robert Lee Thomason, Jr. and Nancy Sue Herndon Thomason, was born October 16, 1953 in Ardmore, Oklahoma. She grew up in Graham, Oklahoma on the family farm and enjoyed working with her father and doing all the chores a young farm girl would be expected to do. She graduated from Graham High School with the class of 1971. For the nine years she was in school there. Donna was very active in the 4H Club, receiving the Minnie B Church 4H Award and was a member of an honors group, the Oklahoma Key Club. Donna and her sisters enjoyed taking Tap and Ballet at the Betty Brown Dance Studio.
In her youth Donna was a member of the Calvary Presbyterian Church, where she sang in the church choir, and later attended the First Presbyterian Church, both in Ardmore. Presently she was a member of the Westminster Presbyterian Church in Oklahoma City. Donna was very proud of her Native American heritage with the Choctaw Tribe.
As a young lady, Donna began working at the Ardmore Abstract Office before joining the Carter County Court Clerk's office from 1975 to 1980. After moving to Oklahoma City in 1982 she began a thirty-one year career there with the Oklahoma County Court Clerk's office, retiring in 2013.
Donna and Millard Grove "Mike" Deming were married at the Noble Chapel of the First Presbyterian Church in Ardmore, November 21, 1981. Following twenty eight years of marriage, Mike preceded her in death in 2009.
Proud of her family history, Donna was a member of the Daughter's of the American Revolution and the United Daughter's of the Confederacy. In her leisure time Donna enjoyed attending Professional Bull Riding events, going to estate sales, travel with her sisters and shopping in Dallas.
Following a long and valiant battle against cancer, Donna went from life to life everlasting Sunday, February 27, 2022 from her childhood home in Graham surrounded by her loving sisters and family.
She rejoined her husband, Mike Deming and parents, Robert L. and Nancy Thomason, Jr., as well as other family and friends that preceded her in death.
Donna's surviving family members, that will forever cherish precious memories, include her sisters, Janet Lee Thomason of Marietta, Nancy Lynn Thomason Dunlap and her husband, Louis of Ada; an uncle, Robert Carpenter, of Ardmore; a niece, Lisa Dunlap Blackwell of Ada;
her many cousins, nieces, nephews, other extended family and three special friends, Sallie Walker, Deranda Garrett and Delores Hales. The family extends a very special thank you to Donna's Oncologist, Dr. Aleda Toma, her nurse, Vicki Hutchens and all the nurses in the Chemo Department at Cancer Specialists of Oklahoma for all the love and special care they gave to Donna. Dr. Toma told Donna on numerous occasions that she loved her and the feeling was mutual.
Funeral services will be in the Centennial Chapel of Harvey-Douglas Funeral Home and Crematory at 2:00 p.m. Friday, March 4, 2022, conducted by her cousin, Don Ray Thomason. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park with the assistance of David Thomason, Paul Lynn Thomason, Bob Mumford, Shane Lemons, James Pat Telford and Robert Wright serving as pallbearers.
A time of visitation and support for family and friends will be Thursday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
Those attending services are encouraged to wear face masks.
