MUSIC MUSIC MUSIC

Mardi Gras or Fat Tuesday begins the first day of March.

Hey that is tomorrow!

I guess my coughing fit is over... from eating pistachios.

From the comfort of my bed, I watched Mick Jagger prance up and down the stage in Rio. His T shirt said BRASIL. The year was 2004, I believe.

OH, I was eating Kirkland Nuts earlier today and an enormous FILLING fell out.

Thank God I wasn't dining with Mick Jagger and the boys.

Saw my kidney doctor today, Dr Victor Ghantous, who gave me a good report.

He is a very sharp dresser though unlike me he had gained some weight.

And according to Dr Berman, we are gonna cure my HEP C.

Ghantous agreed that was a good idea.

Never thought it would happen. That's why we have to donate to various foundations.

SO I was upstairs reading. The Cancer Journals by Audre Lord.

Well written but it is like a theme and variations, over and over again.

Diabelli Variations, Theme on Haydn by Brahms, Glenn Gould playing ....

Oops there goes my memory.

So what shall I read when I climb back in bed?

Oh, s'ils tu insiste!

Glass flowers. About thirty dollars.

Wish you could see my pretty red blouse

Last night I was reading in bed. Was reading the library book PEOPLE LOVE DEAD JEWS by Dara Horn.

She is very cynical. She was talking about the ubiquitious nature of Jews and was now concentrating on Harbin China. Under the Japanese occupation, many Jews were tortured and killed.

Dreadful, of course.

I fell asleep and woke up about 6:15 am.

Suddenly the craving came over me.

KIRKLAND UNSALTED NUTS.

If you go downstairs and eat those nuts, I thought, I will have no respect for you ever again!

I did not go downstairs.

However, when I woke up my sugar was low. 66. Not terrible, but it were a shock.

Scuse me while I sip my Peppermint Bark, caffeine-free.

Before I got out of bed I grabbed a handy scissors on my bedside marble table and snipped, snipped, snipped my toenails. Luckily I am nimber enough to get close to my toenails.

GREAT JOB REE ROW !!!

Was reading BLOOD AND THUNDER Musings from the Art of Medicine. Linda Barrett got several poems in that were chilling!

I had several too and wrote about Beth Lindsey, my former psychiatrist, who was put in jail for nonpayment of alimony, read Buddhist literature and became a Buddhist nun. She emigrated to the UK where she died of rampaging breast cancer.

Yes I am looking f/w to seeing Dr Ghantous and am wearing a lovely reddish shirt I bought at the Doylestown PA Gift Shop while waiting to see a pain mgmt doctor for my bad back. Sass was his name I believe.

Martin Puryear is the sculptor.

During the night I realized tonight is MONDAY and we must ZOOM. Was that a good idea, I wondered, changing it to Monday night?

So be it. This too shall pass. Oh, I watched a relaxing show last night - no, not talking of the GEORGE HARRISON TRIBUTE where Tom Petty was still alive - but it was about WONDERS OF THE WORLD with soothing music and quotes by the likes of Henry David Thoreaux. I do not know how to spell his name.

Unparallelled Beauty

The first thing I do when I wake up is look out my window.

I could not believe my eyes!

Every single thing was encased in ICE.

My miniature lilac tree.

The huge shrub I bought at Galbally's Nursery.

The mottled akuba bushes next to my doorway.

As the temperature rises, the ice is melting.

BOOM BOOM BOOM

The new war.

Which Requiem Mass should we listen to?

Let us try BRAHMS.

TV SHOW - ADVENTURES WITH PURPOSE - a lazy saturday

Just got a notification that Adventures with Purpose had found something,

One of my favorite TV shows is Adventures with a Purpose.

A group of divers led by Jason are called to find people and vehicles who have disappeared under water.

Several people have taken their own lives, others have gotten lost on a rainy or snowy night and have drowned.

Some vehicles have been stolen and have been turned over to the FBI.

We just found a Chevy Camaro.

Our Camaro is caked with mud.

It is not really a Saturday but is a lazy day you feel like doing nuthin but lying around and reading about THE TITANIC and looking out the window at the passersby.

Just ate a PAD THAI RED CURRY frozen dinner.

Flavor was good but there was not enuf of it, so I noshed on unsalted pistachios which were delicious.

 RAYMOND PITCAIRN AND FAMILY

I have always been fascinated by Glencairn, the Bryn Athyn home of Raymond and Mildred and their 9 children.

Over the years they have hosted concerts, pianists, speakers, and artists.

Having been there dozens of times over the years, I was glad to receive this update.

Next photo will be the children all grown up.

My FAVORITE was a Buddhist monk who made a mandala every year.

8 vials of blood

A cardinal rule when your blood is drawn is to drink plenty of liquids, which I forgot.

Christine warned me that if I didn't have the 'right' kind of blood it might clot. Well, I said, you're a phlebotomist, so you can figure it out.

Am now drinking V-8 and am down to my penultimate can.

I poured it into one of Helene's small glasses.

Scott of course drove me to Quest. Jeffery Berman had requested all that blood. Christine warned us that my insurance may not cover everything.

Over Scott, I said, Well, we must do it.

After dat, we went to the library where I returned my books and checked out more.

Including ALL IN by Billie Jean King which was overdo !

Also got a kid's book about THE TITANIC and

PEOPLE LOVE DEAD JEWS by Dara Horn.

Can YOU think of any dead Jews?

Freud and Einstein and Richard Feynmann and the creator of Marvel Comics.

In the past I have written poetry about Blood Draws. Here is one I will write NOW.

AMAZING HOW the wine-red blood that flows

through your body is similar to a research librarian

whose sign reads ASK ME.

And the tales this blood will tell.

Death? Dying? Horrifics soon to come?

We will wait and read our library books

until there comes that final knock on the door.

WE FINALLY MEET HIM

 The man knew his stuff

Wiping his feet on the mat

he was escorted down into the

cobwebby basement

furniture of every variety

sparred for a place

like in the film Raging Bull

His pal Joe waited in the truck

living with him now up

in Fox Chase where Walmsley

a master who became a rogue

drank his beer and returned

from fishing at Brigantine

Shawn, a large man, pants falling

below his waist like the new

teenage fashions, walked upstairs

and looked at the drip drip drip

of the bathroom faucet

Shook his wet head and muttered

I'll figure it out, I'll ask

my friends. Some of them will

recognize it. Shouldn't take long.

The purple crocus with the sun

yellow center became one with

the water. Silence. Total silence.

HEINOUS TASK NEARLY COMPLETED!

Changed the sheets on my bed. My sister Donna slept in my bed while she was in town - she lives in Clarksboro, NJ, so I finally removed my books, brochures, The Vermont Country Store Catalog and looked in my sliding hall closet and chose a pair of sheets.

Brought em into the bedroom but oh no! they were fitted sheets.

These are lovely with a pattern of green leaves, you might say.

Ellen made us oatmeal for breakfast. Delicious. She and Mom had it for breakfast every day.

Sorta kinda.

Rode my stationery bike for 20 minutes while reading a library book.

Must I get up and look at title?

WE DREAM OF SPACE - Family is a complicated Galaxy - Erin Entrada Kelly.

Am noshing on Kirkland Unsalted Nuts, courtesy of Ellen.

Of course we do need salt.

Ellen brought salt shakers from Mom's.

She told me that in another life, Mom wanted to be a dancer.

Rita Hayworth was a gifted dancer. We watched her in a film on Turner Classic Movies.

She may have had a mile-wide smile.

Dancing with Fred Astair, who also had a sister who danced.

Back to the changing of the

guard

calendar or was it

sheets

I lay down and felt very comfortable.

Every book or mag of mine must have a BOOKMARK.

Sadly I found TNT DINER

Tim and Terri Hack

HOW I loved that diner and hadn't realized it had closed.

Often I would exercise down the street at Margaret Fitzpatrick's and then grab lunch here.

You know what?

Am gonna write Sister Donna before the mailtruck arrives.

The crap I receive in the mail.

RAMSHACKLE

Bach's Partita No. 8 just finished on FROM THE TOP. Smart kids playing and earning scholarships.

Mom whom I called Ma and Aunt Ethel saw to it that I moved here from Village Green Apartments of the ringing of the Turnpike Tires over and over again.

Why has it never occurred to me that if our bodies get old, our rib cages, feet, which carry us on our journey home, so do our houses.

My twin red couches, once the pride of my life, need antimassicars at the touch points. My friend Teresita bought them for me at Glencairn.

We all squeezed into a little elevator and rode to the top.

Colburn School in Los Angeles.

Scared of heights I viewed it from behind, the way blues artist Robert Johnson could not face his audience.

DAILY JOY VIDEOS are recommended by these young artists.

When I am in bed, I listen to the creaking of the house.

Surrendering under the covers, I cannot help but wonder,

Will I awaken in the morning.

LETTER TO EDITOR PUBLISHED IN TIMES CHRONICLE

 THWACK!

There it was. The Times Chronicle delivered
right on time on my front sidewalk.
How grateful I am to read the local news.
And in living color!
February is "Heart Health
Month" reminds me yet again
to start my day with a healthy breakfast.
The farm-fresh eggs from ALDI plus
sauteed mushrooms and medium hot salsa
reminded me of staying at a bed and breakfast
in Ocean City, N.J.

Something I like to do is
buy fresh flowers and put them on my front
window sill - purple cyclomen and a fragrant
pink hyancinth.

Did I hear the breakfast gong go off?
Great. This morning I'll have Muesli, the
fruit, nut and oatmeal cereal made famous
by Ted Koppel. At 82, he may still be
eating it.

Your political cartoons are a riot, though I
still miss Blondie and Dagwood comic strips.

Gotta run. My Muesli should be ready. Will read
the paper while learning about "Historic Black
Wellness." Perhaps there is something I can do
to help.

...

LAST NIGHT WE ORDERED CHINESE FOOD AT THE China Garden at the Staples Center. Food was delicious!

Wanna write them a review.

My sister Donna, with my permission, rearranged many things in my house. Silverware drawer - squeak squeak squeak - is very helpful but must be cleaned out.

...

ED, the Verizon man, was here early this morning and fixed all the wiring so the phone now works.

...

Thank you ELLEN.

Fragrant purple hyacinth, thank you Sister Lynn.

THE HOUSE IS QUIET NOW.

QUIET AS A MOUSE.

NO, DON'T SAY THAT !!!

Homelessness - SEPTA BUS says WEAR A MASK

GO GO GO speedskater - one of the first black speed skaters

READ FRONT OF SEPTA BUS... WEAR A MASK

I was rushing to send out two letters - one a refund from THE DEPT OF TREASURY - who me? - thother to my neighbor Nancy Myers across the street.

Kept peeking outside and finally the Mail Truck came by.

It was EUGENE, a Black postman I had never met. We chatted a couple of minutes before I went inside.

Freezing outside.

I'd been napping on Red Couch to a program about homelessness.

Men and women who had been homeless were given KEYS to their own apartments. They would be required to pay $300 per month and abstain from alcohol and substances.

Not easy for many.

I probly pay more than $300 per month what with taxes and bills like my outrageously high Verizon bill of $97.

Sent Scott a Valentine and also Nancy Myers across the street.

WHERE IS THAT NICE LADY? MUST HIT 'COMPOSE VIEW'

Just wanted to say one thing. Before I do, though, I went to Scott's last night and watched the original PLANET OF THE APES at 8 pm.

Charlton Heston starred as a disagreeable human. Kim Hunter starred as one of the apes. Maurice Evans, who I don't know, starred as the arch rival. We will look him up.

That cute show ARTHUR is on now. Was watching Steve Gundry, MD, last night. Do not, he said, eat potatoes or members of the nightshade family, as they have lectins in them.

I also exercised with Miranda Esmond White and woke up with my wrists hurting me.

Am listening to a station in the Lehigh Valley. WLEV. The female announcer said COFFEE is good for you.

We do know dat.

When I awoke, I wondered, "Where is that very nice lady?"

IT WAS MY MOTHER, when she was younger.

Maurice Evans (1901-1989). He was also on BEWITCHED.

SHALL I GO BACK TO BED NOW AND READ, or go downstairs and have breakfast. Time is 7:21 am.

Buy my house, but wait until I have drawn my last breath

So, I caught up with Mailman Sean so I could mail a 17 dollar check to my credit union. It is always fun to run after him!

Also put in mailbox check for $25 for Memorial Sloan Kettering. They did try to help Dad while he was dying from a lung tumor that metastisized to his brain.

What a traumatic experience that was for our whole family.

...

Last night was reading in bed. Endurance by Scott Kelly.

I am always assured of a wonderful 'read.'

One great story he told was about 2 Russian cosmonauts who went outside the capsule for maintenance work.

They were trembling when they came back in.

One of them started to FLOAT AWAY in outer space, but was caught by his partner just in time.

...

TRIED TO PUBLISH MY NOVEL

MY FATHER'S KEEPER ON the free website Short-story.net.

Could not figure it out.

So many times I tried to load it.

...

While reading ENDEAVOR I wanted to go downstairs in the worst way to snack.

I managed not to.

Earlier I had one of the worst 'lows' ever.

I could barely find what to eat. That is bc your brain is not working properly.

...

Hold on while I get a refreshing drink of cold water. NO, it is not made from snow, tho I always enjoyed that, didn't you, Nancy W?

I use a wine glass from Helene, I believe. Deep blue base.

...

When I look downstairs in the family room it looks like Mom's house. Ellen brought over everything she could, both in her car and in a moving van.

She gave me instrux today over the phone on how to preserve her bananas.

I did what she said.

AUNT ETHEL'S SOFA is there. I pleaded with her not to bring it.

So is the B Altman desk with a beautiful lamp on top plus the RANDOM HOUSE DICTIONARY which I brought all the way from Texas when I was leaving my former husband, now deceased.

We had a small DATSUN station wagon.

...

I WANNA BUY YOUR HOUSE, AS IS, wrote Dan Breslin of DIAMOND EQUITY INVESTMENTS.

Are you related to the late great NICK BRESLIN, I asked.

But I did not have Dan Breslin's email address.

OOOPS

Just lost a bunch of shtuff here.

WARMINSTER ON THE THAMES RIVER, ON THE GANGES, THE DANUBE?

Well, we are proud of Raj who has a big long Indian name.

Hiawatha? Nicomis? Hari Srinavasin?

Goodbye for now.

JUST FINISHED WATCHING A THREE HOUR FILM CALLED 'THE FLOOD.'

Very enjoyable. London was on the verge of being swallowed up by a mighty burst of water but it never happened.

The cast was great.... a bunch of old gents brought out from whatever they were doing.

Thank you Ellen for the lovely cycloman you bought me at WEIS MARKET in Huntingdon Valley.
