AND THE MOON LOOKS ON AFTER THE DEATH OF A NOTORIOUS CHARACTER IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD

Waxing Crescent: The Waxing Crescent is the second phase in the cycle of phases. This Moon phase occurs once a month, rising around 9 AM, and setting around 9 PM, sticking around for approximately 7.38 days before going into the First Quarter phase.

After I ate my second bowl of BABY LETTUCE, I looked up the phase of the moon.

I was friends with the father, Luke. Would walk or drive over with a pot of hot chili in my car. Afterward we would sit at his kitchen table and he would pour me a hot cup of Folger's Coffee from the coffeemaker.

Ah, that was nice.

Once he hugged me and I said, If you ever do that again, I'm not coming over.

I took a tour around his enormous house. He was the one who told me that the nun responsible for all those gorgeous figurines was really a man. Forget his name. YOU look it up.

Luke was getting a paunch so I made him walk for two houses, two whole houses. Then his caretaker called me up - was her name Valerie? - and told me Pops is dead.

NOW his second son is gone. First came Bill whose liver exploded. Today twas thother one, Bob. Or Bobby.

Once I was walking down the street and Bob called me, Ruthie, Baby.

My name is Ruth, not Ruthie Baby.

Settled, mostly.

Remember the song, Hang down your head Tom Dooley, hang down your head and cry.

I met Toothless Pam while walking down the street. First tho I came across LEE, she of the two huge Grand Pyranees Dogs who told me BOB was dead.

My head spun. Notorious or not, he was part of the neighborhood. You would see him walking with Lulu, the dog he found at the pound. He was a hard worker. First at Produce Junction and then at a brewery, where he could drink his fill.

I would often stop and ask him foolish questions. He would listen and offer an opinion.

First there was Luke, his dad. Then his brother Bill whose liver exploded. I watched one day when the cops cuffed him after he passed out across the street and took him to jail.

Drama on our street but not like the original drama where a young teen was done away with.

Bob died sitting up in his driveway, moaning, moaning, moaning.

WONDERFUL ADVENT TEA from the Fabulous Fleishers

 Ooo la la

HAMMAN TEA: Green Tea, Flowers and Red Fruit.
Inspired by a traditional Turkish recipe,
this green tea evokes the flesh of green date
orange blossom, rose and red fruit.

AND I DRINK,
nay sip, savoring in a thick porcelain cup
with the Five Greenwold Girls plus Ma
on the steps of our former house
which is no more

Unless you drink the tea which takes us back
to anywhere we wish to go
the cemetery in Cleveland where
the tribe is buried underground
but today the sun splashes
like a turquoise Buddha
across our lawn and we remember all
we remember all

THE TURKEY TROT

Fiftieth anniversary of SYDNEY OPERA HOUSE.

And who designed it?

Frank Lloyd Wright?

Le Corbusier?

Renzo Piano?

THE WINNER:  Who was Jørn Utzon?

And what were the influences that formed him?

Like many architects, Jørn Utzon had initially entered the competition to design Sydney’s opera house to exercise his ideas. He was surprised to learn he had won.

Born in 1918 in Copenhagen, Utzon grew up in the immediate aftermath of the First World War. Despite the enormous disruption wrought by the conflict, modernity was already beginning to remodel the landscape of 20th century Europe.

By 1956, the year of his opera house competition entry, Utzon had inherited broadly from the artistic, cultural and scientific revolutions that arose out of this immense period of change.

FILLING YE OLDE PILL BOX

Whew! I had just about run out of tacrolimus. Called CVS and spoke to the ANSWER MAN, who said the pills were on order.

I have also donated $25 to the FOX CHASE CANCER CENTER for the former JOLYN REZNICK. We both worked at the Record/Intell.

It is also a year's anniversary for the death of the RAY NAYLOR, famous in our crowd for the BIPOLAR POLAR BEAR.

I did not leave a message.

Told son Dan I am doing well with my blood sugar. Am not snacking.

WHAT IS TACROLIMUS?

Shall we find out?

Dosage is based on your weight, medical condition, blood test results (such as tacrolimus trough levels), and response to therapy.

Tacrolimus is available in different formulations (such as immediate and extended-release). Do not switch between different forms of tacrolimus without consulting your doctor.

Do not increase your dose or take this medication more often without your doctor's approval. Your condition will not improve any faster and the risk of serious side effects may be increased. Also, do not stop taking this medication without your doctor's approval.

I AM HOWEVER DRINKING TEA FROM MY ADVENT PACKAGE.

This morning's flavor is seven citrus russian blend.

ALSO WROTE TO SON DAN that I am not reading any good books.

GERALDINE BROOKS AUTHOR OF HORSE.

NICHOLAS SPARKS AUTHOR OF DREAMLAND.

....

The sun just came out.

Am viewing the pointsettia on my bay window in living room.

And read until I finished.

It is a science fiction book.

It was fair.

The US is not the only haven for Holocaust Refugees

Aired on Wednesday, April 27th.

Nates will be speaking soon here in Tulsa; she'll give the keynote address at the 24th Annual Interfaith Yom HaShoah Commemoration on Thursday night, the 28th.

Our guest is Tali Nates, executive director of the Holocaust and Genocide Centre in Johannesburg, South Africa. She'll will soon give a free-to-the-public talk here in our community when she delivers the keynote address at the 24th Annual Interfaith Yom HaShoah Commemoration on Thursday the 28th. This event will take place at B'nai Emunah Synagogue, near 17th and Peoria, beginning at 7pm. Her address is titled "When Silence Led to Persecution and the Death of Millions." More on this special event of remembrance and recognition is posted here.

What are YOU thankful for?

Found this Thanksgiving Day Photo online.

What are YOU grateful for, Dear Reader?

Mostly we are thankful for our health and that we are still alive despite what ails us.

I had been watching on TV a look at KING TUT and various theories on how he died. Was he murdered? Absolutely not, said one scholar. You do a postmortem on him - he was well preserved - and then come up with theories.

A professional sculptor was hired and came up with the FACE he thought the pharaoh or king would have if he were alive right now.

....

As usual, my mailbox was filled with solicitations.

I had donated to one of the many WISH foundations, but they told me to give MORE money and possibly hadn't even cashed my check.

...

Just turned off the TV as I didn't wanna hear horror stories of what happens in today's world. Shootings. And WHY should we have gun control? A woman whose child was murdered said she would like to walk up to every single person and take away their gun or assault weapon.

...

Watched a show about writers. Who is your current favorite? What book(s) is on your nightstand? One fellow who was a scriptwriter, only, said he went to a bookstore and started reading Anne Tyler's "The Accidental Tourist" and could not put it down and realized he could write using 'his own voice.'

In various book groups I've belonged to we have read a number of Tyler's books.

When I return to bed I will continue reading AGE OF MIRACLES. Just when it gets humdrum, Karen Walker Thompson throws a curve ball into the mix and you have to start thinking all over again.

...

Scott and I watched THE LION, THE WITCH AND THE WARDROBE that I had checked out of the library.

Magical!

Just dumped recyclables into YELLOW PLASTIC BIN

Newest AMERICAN HERITAGE BRANCH in Abington PA.

Last night, one of the food gurus told us COFFEE is good for you and so are BING cherries.

This morning I donated to the Alzheimers Foundation. Can't find the apostrophe.

My Nescafe coffee is okay, nothing special.

Folks are in an uproar due to Putin's blitz on UKRAINE.

COFFEE

I'm not afraid to walk into Starbucks

and order whatever I want.

Pumpkin Coffee with a hint of rosemary

Selling points.

I will stick with my Nescafe in the Prince Harry and

Meghan Markle cup I ordered years ago when money

was aplenty and foolishly I thought it will never end.

Jolyn Resnick, 64, an award-winning newspaper reporter, died Jan. 16 at Montgomery

Hospital in Norristown. The former Jolyn Marged, she was a resident of East Norriton.

A graduate of Trenton State College, Resnick was most recently a reporter for the Times Leader in Wilkes-Barre. She previously worked for the suburban edition of the Legal Intelligencer; for the Reporter in Lansdale; for the Princeton Packet in Princeton, N.J.; and for the Record in Horsham.

She earned several journalism honors, including a 2001 Keystone Award from the Pennsylvania Newspaper Association.

For the last several years, she fought pancreatic cancer.

I will donate something to her.

Before Ellen came to live with me, I bought a sofa bed at Gamburg's in Hatboro PA.

Also got a champagne colored carpet from SPECIALTY FLOORING.

And I coudn't resist painting this step stool.

Just called CRAIG FISHER at Ann's Choice and said hello to him. He has a remarkable memory.

Miss you Ma !!!! View from our kitchen at 1266 Gantt Drive.

Just got home from walking around the block

 I really bundled up

Wore a blue mask which helps me keep warm

And sunglasses which I pulled off and stuffed in my short coat I had purchased at SWEATER MILL.

HERE IS AN ONLINE REVIEW:

I just rediscovered this store after being away from the area for a while, and I fell in love with it all over again.  It is an absolute JEWEL!!!  WONDERFUL selection of clothes and jewelry (and the most AMAZING socks in art and animal motifs - bought 4 pair!), great prices, and knowledgeable, friendly staff (shout out to Natalie), esp. the owner, Yvette, who was a sheer delight.  I'd give 10 stars if I could, and I can't wait to go back.
By the way, don't trust any reviews you see about the owner being "nasty" - you don't stay in business this long being nasty.  There is a backstory to this and the problem person is NOT the owner.

GONNA DRINK SOME HOT COFFEE in my Prince Harry and Meghan Markle cup I bought online and then recommence writing MY NOVEL, THE THREE MAILMEN.

BTW, I continue to read AGE OF MIRACLES by Karen Walker Thompson.

Ho-hum.

It is getting a little tiresome.

Saturday is 38 and sunny with a high of ,,,,,

Family photo of Prince Harry and Megan Markle with children Archie and Lilibet.

And I, Ruth Z Deming, am baking a PALAK PANEER  Creamed Spinach and Cheese with Rajmah Dahl in my new TOASTER OVEN, with the help of Ellen.

Worked TWO WHOLE HOURS on a letter to David and Mary Robertson. When I tucked it into Scott's mailbox, I saw THE MAIL HAD ALREADY COME !!!!

Yes, it will eventually get there. He lists his mailing address at the top of his letter.

Wow, you can smell the TV Dinner, as I like to call it, all the way upstairs into my Composing Room.

....

Ellen drove me to Warminster Library on Wednesday night so I could read my new story at the Library. I was the first to read as I wanted to thank Miss Eva for hosting us.

I looked great in a black dress with sparkles all over it and a blue jacket. Puts you in a great mood to do your best!

When it was time to go home, Vern drove me. His emotional caring dog was in the car with us, as was his GF, Sue.

Tell me where to go, he asked me.

Oh no! I had no idea. So he put it in the GPS.

Didn't take too long to get home.

He followed the direx to a T, but it was not the way I would have gone.

STRONG SMELL OF GARLIC !  Not ready yet.

Tick tick tick tick!

As we came into my neighborhood, Vern said, Oh, beautiful neighborhood.

Yes, I suppose so, but I rarely think of it that way.

Now, after I fill my pill box, I will start working on my new novel as November is nano writing or something like dat.

Here is a great novel I am reading right now.

As a debut novel, it won about a dozen awards.

I had read part of it already, but had to return it to the library - too many books to read.

Ah, remember when I used to read BARTLEBY?

All in the past.

From my high-up window here in my composing room, I see the dead leaves fluttering on some trees outside.

TREES! How we love trees.

President Biden oversees his granddaughter Naomi's wedding on the South Lawn. Is that right?

I am watching COLLETTE on Netflix. Very sensual. As a cat.

Nothing like a fantastic free film - THE PRINCE AND THE PAUPER - the cast is unknown

Watched THE PRINCE AND THE PAUPER tonight by Mark Twain.

I have no idea who starred in this fantastic film which co-starred twins. Twas very dramatic and funny and the costumes were gorgeous!

Okay, now gonna give my eyes a rest by.... reading

The C S Lewis book I checked out of the library called

The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe.

In the past I've read Mere Christianity and The Screwtape Letters and Surprised by Joy.

This book is about his conversion to Christianity.

Man o man, if ONLY I had the time.

What a beautiful face has Prince Harry.

This is his new book. I tried to reserve it at my library, but they still do not have my correct password.

He is the son of Princess Diana, a beautiful woman. His life, we hope, is much happier, but who knows?

Spent many an hour watching STARGATE, which starred the great actor Richard Dean Anderson

This is from the Richard Dean Anderson website. You will remember he played in the great TV series MacGuyver, a show notable for not using revolvers.

He is 72 years old in November, 2022. Above is an old photo.

Born in 1950.

Here's how he looked in STARGATE.
