LAB TESTS SHOW GREAT RESULTS

Comments from the Doctor's Office

Congratulations, your labs show no detectible virus. You are cured of hepatitis C! No additional follow up is necessary from my standpoint.

Dear Ruth Z Deming,

We are pleased to inform you that the results of your breast imaging exam performed on 7/29/22 showed no evidence of breast cancer. It is recommended that you continue with your routine breast cancer screening.

A report of your results was sent to your referring provider. Your breast images and reports will become part of your medical record at Jefferson. You are responsible for informing any new health care provider or breast imaging facility of the date and location of this examination.

While mammography is the best method for early detection, not all cancers are found with mammography. We encourage you to report any changes in your breasts that concern you to your healthcare provider right away. Annual breast examination by your healthcare provider and a yearly mammogram are recommended for all average risk women beginning at age 40.

Your mammogram shows that you do not have dense breasts. Please understand that assessment of breast density may vary from year to year.

MAMMOGRAM, written in 2021

To please Dr Cynthia
I said I'd get a
mammogram, controversial
though it is.

The Mary Sachs Breast Center
right around the
corner fit me in
like a lost library
book assuming its
place on the shelf.

Judy was my dark-haired
host. The all plastic
machine was a marvel
Plexiglass shelves
lovingly bore
down on each breast.

They seem to get bigger
with time, I said, making
polite conversation, to her
no-reply

I helped her lay each
pliable fish-like
appendage on the
shelf, arm clasping
balance beam
and chin held high
like a Tolstoy princess

Then held my breath
the hardest part
one two three
one two three
until Judy, who
smelled like
Febreze bid
me go home.
