What a whirl of a Holiday we all had

Thank you Daniel Paul Deming for taking this shot.

Double click to enlarge.

Just ran down the street, and yes, my foot is still swollen, and gave Dante a lovely card for Scott.

Enjoying your vacation, I asked Dante? Yes, he said.

My refrigerator could be a cartoon character. I found two lamb ribs in there and stuck em in the oven to heat up. It might take weeks.

Am trying not to break the spell of the holidays.

BUT I did finish the Netflix documentary on pediatric cancer, Excellent and it did make me cry.

Very well done. Of course we remember Dad when he was dying of lung cancer which went to his brain. Dead at 59 tho we drove him to Sloan Kettering for experimental treatment that did not work.

All I need is to write one poem and then I can check the rack of lamb.

HOLIDAY WHIRL

Ever notice when holidays come round

A few folks perish

While new ones find themselves

Let in.

More on the My Lai Massacre

During the FOUR HOURS of the My Lai massacre most of the Americans who participated have

sacred altars in their living rooms. The victims of the massacre are waiting for Lt Calley to come visit and apologize.

That will never happen. Calley is not remorseful, say people interviewed for the article, which appeared in the Smithsonian mag.

Now I will pop in a chocolate drop and finish the book IN THE LAKE OF THE WOODS by Tim O'Brien.

Our house is not sold yet !

This is FRANK STELLA, one of my favorite artists. Wrote about him when I worked for ART MATTERS. Everyone is now dead.

His sculpture is now going up in the WORLD TRADE CENTER PLAZA.

I would publish the entire story from the TIMES, but often it does not show up.

Scott just came over to visit.

My coffee of the day - or du jour - is cinnamon spice - DEE LICIOUS !!!!

WILL THE HOUSE SELL?

There is a distinct possibility our house may sell. Talked to Ellen tonight. We shall see. Some logistical problems have arisen. And she is right to be concerned about them.

Was at Scott's earlier watching the news and keeping warm under the covers.

I had set my crock pot on LOW when I left.

When I got home, the entire pot was filled to the brim with my RICE PILAF as I call it. Delicious but needed salt, so I added real unadulterated soy sauce.

It is in the fridge now.

I am watching REAL DETECTIVES in LA County. We are touring the morgue now. Fascinating.

Later !!!

Told Ellen THE RED COUCH is my post, like Donna had when she lived on Sullivan Street - I can see far and wide

Thank you Sister Lynn for the delicious EARL GREY TEA with a smattering of caffeine. And NO I will not be up all night.

Of course I used my WATER PIK this morning.

And I am NOT USED TO IT YET.

Here I am, as usual, on RED COUCH, eating my lukewarm oatmeal with blueberries, peanut butter and butter.

Scuse me while I wash the white bowl from a former ND member.

A Dougherty I believe.

Scott is Giant-bound. Gonna get a shot. Also told him to buy a frozen AMY'S BURRITO, which Ellen brought over last night.

We found my cell phone. It was at Dan's. I never use it.

Sent folks this morning husbands who killed their wives dead.

Albert Salmi and Gig Young.

AND OF COURSE today is NOVEMBER 22, the day John F Kennedy was assassinated.

This must be the ZAPRUDER 8mm shot.

LAST NIGHT I SLEPT IN THE MIDDLE ROOM.

That's the good thing about living here. Twas very comfortable and I read four books. Billy Crystal had written 700 Sundays, Very good!

And I continued Tim O'Brien's IN THE LAKE OF THE WOODS.

When Scott left I stood up from couch and insisted on giving him a strong hug!

We are actually in Ocean City, NJ. He loves tomato juice.

I have a six pack of it in my fridge.

BYE FOR NOW !!!!

Scott could not get a Moderna shot at Giant. They did not have it. He will need to make an appt at Rite Aid I believe.

I did exercises downstairs on the bed.

Difficult!

From the folks at Margaret Fitzpatrick.

Midnight Snack AND where are those meteor showers - they are THERE, we just can't see em from our purview - words I have looked up from new book - dross, engot

Up at 2 am I ate Hebrew National sans bun with cheese and a side of watermelon chunks bought from Insta Carte.

Made Mom's pea soup with hot dogs inside as well as veggies to mix inside.

Awoke to see if there were meteors outside but no there was too much cloud cover.

Sip sip sip on Helene's tiny glass cup filled first, during the day, with Starbucks, when sister Donna was here, and then with water from Scott's Britta.

Such strange words if you

just got out of prison or returned from the MARS space station.

I will return to bed upstairs. Am reading GINGERBREAD by Helen Oyeme.... Actually I stopped. But resumed with a Tim O'Brien book which I do like.

Awoke to Amanpour where Brianna was interviewing a woman in favor of the medical treatment for drug abuse, who kept laughing.

Then Hari interviewed JOE CHO a Korean American.

Who he?

We put the house on 1266 Gantt Drive up for sale thanks to Elaine Glaubermann and 33 photographs.

Will post tomorrow.

Thousands upon thousands, if only, if only

Just watched snippets on C SPAN. Will reserve it at library.

Just watched The Hokasai Wave on You Tube PLUS Ellen stopped over

Ellen was in such a hurry she had no time to talk.

She will live with me for half the year and with Donna the other half.

She brought the GOYA picture home with her.

How we love that picture. Needs cleaning.

She also brought me iced coffee, which I just heated up, and poured into a cup Judy Kroll bought me.

Here come the teenagers home from school. Below, from Shaker.

These kids are integrated.

Good!!!!

Scott and I walked around the block as the sun was low in the sky and we couldn't go to our usual place the Willow Grove YMCA.

I wrote Nurse Harriet and thanked her for her warm sweater.

Met Bob when I was outside. Asked how he and GF Pam were doing. She is in rehab for 30 days.

She loves her drugs.

I remembered Livingrin from the days I worked as a psychotherapist.

I was never a drug addict tho other people in my family were.

Scott and I passed a huge tree on our walk.

I sure like that Hokasai Wave.

Died an old man of 88.

Darn! He could have married my mother who died at 97!

Katsushika Hokusai, (葛飾 北斎c. 31 October 1760 – 10 May 1849) known simply as Hokusai, was a Japanese artist, ukiyo-e painter and printmaker of the Edo period.[1] Hokusai is best known for the woodblock print series Thirty-Six Views of Mount Fuji which includes the internationally iconic print The Great Wave off Kanagawa.

Hokusai created the monumental Thirty-Six Views of Mount Fuji both as a response to a domestic travel boom in Japan and as part of a personal obsession with Mount Fuji.[2] It was this series, specifically The Great Wave off Kanagawa and Fine Wind, Clear Morning, that secured his fame both in Japan and overseas. While Hokusai's work prior to this series is certainly important, it was not until this series that he gained broad recognition.[3]

Hokusai's work transformed the ukiyo-e artform from a style of portraiture largely focused on courtesans and actors into a much broader style of art that focused on landscapes, plants, and animals. Hokusai worked in various fields besides woodblock prints, such as painting and producing designs for book illustrations, including his own educational Hokusai Manga, which consists of thousands of images of every subject imaginable over fifteen volumes. Starting as a young child, he continued working and improving his style until his death, aged 88. In a long and successful career, he produced over 30,000 paintings, sketches, woodblock prints, and images for picture books in total. Innovative in his compositions and exceptional in his drawing technique, Hokusai is considered one of the greatest masters in the history of art.

Scott and I walk in the freezing cold

We made sure we were dressed in layers when we walked at the YMCA off Davisville Road.

Windy, Scott wore his Flyers cap and I wore a warm hat that fit my entire head.

We saw a male jogger who was working up a sweat. We were not.

We saw WASTE MANAGEMENT bins. Bill Adams, next door, is a salesman, I believe, who sells these deep green bins.

We saw Canada Geese floating on the lake, which may have been man made.

There were loads of rocks - or boulders - to walk on.

Where did these come from?

The ICE AGE.

When did the last Ice Age end?

  • The end of the last glacial period, which was about 10,000 years ago, is often called the end of the ice age, although extensive year-round ice persists in Antarctica and Greenland. Over the past few million years the glacial-interglacial cycles have been "paced" by periodic variations in the Earth's orbit via Milankovitch cycles.

YOU DON'T SAY !!!

I am watching a murder mystery on Netflix which is in Spanish. I keep thinking, Should I turn it off, I cannot stand watching subtitles.

Well, lemme get on with it. Four missing girls about 14 yrs old.

Psychic reading - My Mom - or Gram showed up

 FROM MELISSA JOY CARTAGENA

hi everyone, blessings .....i had a psychic reading on 11/11 and gram bernice came through with paul. he is a wonderful gifted psychic. would love to share grams message with you all ....... i recorded the session and gram came in at 1min 44 secs!!! ha

please feel free to pass this on to anyone and all she knows.....

ill type now what paul (the medium) is saying.......i am transcribing from the recording..... here it goes.

"your mothers mother is here she is here and she is very excited.
like very excited. like upbeat excited. couple of reasons, toward the end of her life she wasnt able to get up and walk around as usual and able to do      so she is excited to tell you she is dancing and having a blast. so she is very excited she is kicking her legs up and back to a younger woman. she is no longer the age in which she died. her last two years were very debilitating for her. physically and mentally. so shes wanting everyone to know how excited she is. she is very much a guide to you and she stands to your left right now. she will ring your ears every once in a while. know that is her. she is just an excited soul. which im liking. she didnt have the easiest life overall but it was not a bad one. it was actually a pretty good one. but i like her personality. its very vibrant in some ways."

then he went on to talk about my other gram and on another 45 mins for my personal reading....

but before it ended.... of course i had a burning desire to say "i love that my gram came through and before we end does she have anything else to say.  he says,

" as you said that i wish you were sitting here in this room my lights just went crazy up. yeah so she just brought light! um she was saying something about a butterfly. looking for a butterfly. so thats going to be a symbol that you will either see a picture of one or an actual one.  she says ill walk with you . shes a sweetheart.  and she really loves you alot. i feel like she is trying to be supportive of (he pauses and says) awww, so she is trying to be supportive she said in the darkness of the world, like shes trying to help and she wants to share the journey with you as you heal people. and then he continued with the reading towards me.....

Poem for November - Opera on WRTI FM is CARMEN

 NOVEMBER

Flippant November refuses

to leave

Hand-shaped oak leaves

heart-shaped tulip leaves

maple leaves a-dangle from

the sugar maples

colors as perfect as

the setting sun

do not remind her

one day her trees

will be naked

as a newborn babe's.

>>>>>

Last night THE PANDORA PAPERS was on Frontline. Atrocities were perpetrated in El Salvador and other places by the United States of Terror.

I did not watch but may do so today.

Any mail tomro on Veteran's Day?

Okay, Scott, bring back the Yellow Plastic Bin.

Think back to all the veterans in our families.

Staff Sergeant Harold J Greenwold, paymaster at Guantanamo Bay

Carmen was the opera today on WRTI FM.

Carmen (French: [kaʁ.mɛn]) is an opera in four acts by French composer Georges Bizet. The libretto was written by Henri Meilhac and Ludovic Halévy, based on the novella of the same title by Prosper Mérimée. The opera was first performed by the Opéra-Comique in Paris on 3 March 1875, where its breaking of conventions shocked and scandalized its first audiences.

Bizet died suddenly after the 33rd performance, unaware that the work would achieve international acclaim within the following ten years. Carmen has since become one of the most popular and frequently performed operas in the classical canon; the "Habanera" from act 1 and the "Toreador Song" from act 2 are among the best known of all operatic arias.

The opera is written in the genre of opéra comique with musical numbers separated by dialogue. It is set in southern Spain and tells the story of the downfall of Don José, a naïve soldier who is seduced by the wiles of the fiery gypsy Carmen. José abandons his childhood sweetheart and deserts from his military duties, yet loses Carmen's love to the glamorous torero Escamillo, after which José kills her in a jealous rage. The depictions of proletarian life, immorality, and lawlessness, and the tragic death of the main character on stage, broke new ground in French opera and were highly controversial.

Our teeth age just as we do - we must take care of them

SMILE CULTURE is in the Weis Shopping Center in Huntingdon Valley PA.

I was there for a whopping three or four hours. Scott waited for me in the car and was in anguish. I felt terrible.

Since this was my first time there, I paid 49 dollars. Stacy took x-rays which hurt like the devil

They have all these cubicals.

Dr Yash was born here but his country of origin is India.

I spent nearly an hour writing down my meds and procedures like my kidney transplant.

I had forgotten I was given a shingles shot at the Giant.

Just came home and ate a salad with cheese and those on-the-vine tomatoes.

I asked Stacy, orig from Guatemala, if she thinks I will spend twenty thousand dollars there and she opined, Not that much.

She wants me to use my electric toothbrush after my meals.

Homecare is very important, she said.

A bad problem for me is Bone Loss

Years ago at Venneri's they treated me for bone loss. They would give me a ten percent courtesy discount.

There is a member plan I could join at SMILE CULTURE.

Our New Directions website went down. Dan is helping me fix it. He really knows the lingo of computers.

His kids, Grace and Max, go to school every single day.

I was reading a book last night - Tower of Babel - and they were talking about a five year old girl learning new words. Author is Patricia Parkhurst.

While waiting to go to the dentist I thought I was FIVE.

Dan just called. The New Directions website is fixed but it will take time for the entire thing to upload.

I love talking to him. He is my blue eyed boy!

Whew! Just found my reading glasses

They were inside my backpack. Had last used em when we ate at the vegetarian Asian place.

Who has a daughter named Asia?

This is a test BTW.

I have a great pic of my grandson Max but I am unable to load it here.

People are starting their engines now.

Poof poof poof

Yes let's get that pollutant in the air. Cough cough cough.

Joe Biden had a big victory. He and Jill's photo is on my living room wall.

Did I tell you that after breakfast I will submit my true story for our Saturday writing group.

Used lots of water for my oatmeal to get soft.

On my kitchen SONY I am listening to Dave Brubeck play.

1920 to 2012. Dave Brubeck.

Nice lighting for picture, Lynn, but I've gotta hop on bike before my liver bursts

Thanks Lynn for taking pix of us at this delicious vegetarian restaurant in Southampton PA. As you said, Dear Lynn, this was a special occasion

We had squash soup to begin with. Comfort food, said waitress Jamie.

Finished a wonderful book today, RAPE: A Love Story by Joyce Carol Oates.

A terrible tragedy, difficult to read, is given twists and turns one would never think of.

I ONLY read this book. On my bed are four more books.

I have not wrin my short story for today, but Ken Ivins submitted his, about deer bucks at play in his back yard seeing how many he can impregnate.

Do not forget about daylight savings time. BTW I am so stuffed from dessert at the restaurant - I had a crockpot full of butterscotch pudding with whipped cream on top - maybe I should ride my stationary bike now.

Yes, let's!!!

Vegetarian Chinese Anyone?

Eating here at my house

Let us removed the stumps from my backyard tree

I will stick around and help, I told the guys.

Speak up, please. I dunno who you are. Oh, the water heater installers.

Rice pilaf made in the ancient crockpot.

Good job Paul and Ricky. I gave them top ratings. On the wall is a poster I brought back from Santa Barbara when Anissa and Aaron got married. They are saints.
Hope the cherry tomatoes will ripen. The long chili peppers did and Scott had them in his breakfast eggs.

MOM's house is finally going on the market. They will start at 550, I believe.

Nice old fashioned bureau.
Button Box.
Old fashioned cabinet. Mom refinished it. She was great with her hands. I was gonna bring home the little table on the right but it was too unsteady.
Powder room off her bedroom.
Kitchen cabinet.
Realtor Elaine Glouberman.
Nice pattern when I got home from Mom's. I am searching for my reading glasses.
