R AND R LAWN CARE

Called my credit union this morning and asked them AGAIN to send out my MONTHLY STATEMENT. Yes, said Jess.

Thank you in advance, Jess.

NEW LAWNMOWERS. THEY will mail me an invoice.

They were cutting Nancy's lawn across the street, and they agreed to do mine for $35 a mow.

Holy moly! Look at all the bees outside and also bumble bees.

Patrick says the bees are doing great and that he also has bumble bee nests.

The earth round here comes alive

R & R Lawn Care - and yes I have a card from last year

I use as a bookmark for THE THORN BIRDS

The boyz must be careful as they zoom around my hub caps

And bird bath and mayhap I will love them the way a

Nature lover ought.

They DID leave many grass clippings around.

Tuesday April 12, 2022

Thanks, Ada and Rich, for this tea, which I still have. It was for the week of ADVENT.

Am drinking hot tea this morning in a beautiful STARBUCKS tall glass cup of Sister Ellen's.

Tis almost gone.

For break fast, I ate 2 organic eggs, mushrooms, and hopefully no ants.

Tough getting rid of them. Was gonna call them, the little bastards, but changed my mind.

Yesterday Dante delivered the mail. I made three trips to give him letters.

When he first arrived and handed me the mail, I dropped EVERYTHING on the floor. He should have helped me pick them up, but did not.

Can this be put in a poem?

As usual, ran downstairs to take my morning pills.

What a life!

PILLS

In my Nurse Harriet robe,

Harvoni first in an I LOVE MOM cup

followed by four pills I made sure were correct

check em check em chekhov

What would the author of Lady with a Lapdog

think of Putin's war

RasPutin

A horrible death like his modern day counterparts

The Earl Grey tea is marvelous in my glass Starbucks cup.

Back in the day a cube of sugar was held between the teeth

as the hot liquid went down

the belly was at peace

but not the world.

Mazel tov Scottie Scheffler, a paragon of poise

It would have been understandable if Scottie Scheffler, who has been the paragon of poise as he has charged to the No. 1 ranking in men’s golf this year, felt just a bit unnerved during the first hour of the final round. The three-stroke lead he held over his closest pursuer, Cameron Smith, when the day began had shrunk to a single stroke in the opening two holes.

Worse for Scheffler, on the par-4 third hole, he yanked his tee shot into the trees then failed to get a pitch onto the elevated green, with his ball trundling backward into a dicey spot below the putting surface.

Would it take only three holes for Smith to catch Scheffler? Was the typically tranquil Scheffler, with his everyman nonchalance, about to wilt under the pressure?

Anyone who has been paying attention to this year’s PGA Tour, a circuit Scheffler has dominated since February, might have been able to predict what happened next, though they may not have anticipated Rory McIlroy’s late challenge and delightful finish. As is typical of the Masters, Sunday had something for everyone.

Slip on the Green Jacket, Scottie Scheffler, who beat back two competitors!

MAX loved his 9th birthday gift - My story for our Saturday Writing Group

Called and talked to his dad, who put Max on the phone.

He loved this Compass which I bought on Etsy.

In fact, he is wearing it right now!

"Letter to Mom" is the true story I wrote for our Saturday Group.

PLUS I read everyone's piece and gave them feedback.

Saw Bob Sanders yesterday coming through Bill Adams' backyard.

His drug abusing GF dropped out of Rehab.

I do believe she will eventually STOP, but is not ready yet.

She is a lovely and generous person who once shared their garden tomatoes with me.

Called Bernie Samuels today to see how he is doing.

Fine, just fine. The food isn't so good at Paul's Run but he and Freda were master chefs.

I told him I'm looking f/w to reading a new crime fiction book by Dick Francis, recommended by Ethan and Sarah.

What wonderful and generous people !

I have many more photos on my blog.

Now who do you suppose is calling me now? JML.

THE JOY OF READING ON SCOTT'S FRONT PORCH

It was a free day so there I sat

cuppa hot tea on the side

reading, simply reading

The Thorn Birds, by Colleen McCullough

a priest is being tempted to no avail

by the wealthiest woman in New South Wales

I check the frontispiece for a map of

Australia, none there, while I sit behind

arbor vitae that shields me from view.

Nothing in the whole precious world is better

than to be able to read. Once, after my nervous breakdown

my eyes and brain had forgotten how. Do not desert me

and even when we go to the shore, I can read

most anywhere.

JMW Turner PLUS

From the NY Times today, April 9, 2022.

JMW Turner.

A radical artist confronts changing times

One of Britain’s greatest artists, J. M. W. Turner (1775–1851) lived and worked at the peak of the industrial revolution, when steam replaced sail, machine power replaced manpower, and wars, political unrest, and social reforms transformed society. “Turner’s Modern World” explores how this artist, more than any of his contemporaries, embraced these changes and developed an innovative painting style to better capture the new world.

This landmark exhibition brings together more than 100 paintings, watercolors, drawings, and sketchbooks by Turner, including Snow Storm: Hannibal and his Army Crossing the Alps (1812) from Tate Britain, The Burning of the Houses of Lords and Commons, October 16, 1834 (1835) from the Cleveland Museum of Art, and the MFA’s own Slave Ship (Slavers Throwing Overboard the Dead and Dying, Typhoon Coming On) (1840). These vivid and dramatic compositions demonstrate Turner’s commitment to depicting the great events and developments of his time, from technological advances to causes such as abolition and political reform.

Last night watched a fairly awful Netflix film called Patsy and Loretta.

We knew that Patsy Cline was gonna die in a plane crash. If the viewer knew, how come the pilot did not know.

Loads of bickering, jealousy, and singing.

Goodbye for now, says Smooth Hair, who must write something for our Saturday Writing Group, The Beehive.

Reserved new books at the Library

Am waiting for my insulin to take effect. Then I will eat a couple of eggs - Happy Hen - and mushrooms.

Today is definitely a coffee day.

Yesterday I drank V8 out of a bottle.

Made a trip to the YELLOW PLASTIC BIN just now and put the lid of my Lantus pen plus plastic bags tightly tied.

GORGEOUS outside with descending fog.

Am wearing my thick socks probly from the Sox Lady.

Are they defunct now.

Hold on while I look em up.

From BEST READS in April, by Penguin Books, I reserved a book about the revolt of stewardesses, The Velveteen Rabbit, and On Tyranny: Expanded Audio Edition

by Timothy Snyder.

Only 20 minutes ago it was quite dark outside. Now it is shadowy.

Don't wait for me. Off I go to eat.

Forgot to mention I sauteed half a zucchini. Been a really long time.

AND when I went to wash my dish, I saw THE FOX.
