Cocaine and pot legalized

What a lovely day in the neighborhood. That's what I said to Dr Foxhall when he called this morning. I was unable to get onto skype with him.

I'm all dressed up, I said. Even wearing earrings.

I thought that was sooo unusual I wanted to post what the Times said about legalizing small amounts of cocaine and pot.

Hmmm. How come I have the munchies?

Did you get any good mail?

I threw most of mine in one of my trash bags.

The bags have a sweet odor I do not like.

Lemme see who called me.

Oh, Sister Donna!

We had a great conversation. She's gonna drive over and see her great grandson David who is SIX YEARS OLD!!!

Wish I could see my grandkids, I complained.

I sent them an adorable card this morning - Wait up, Mailman Dante - and just for the heck of it refused to sign my name.

For lunch, I made a grand salad with mayo as the dressing.

Surprisingly it tasted like a turkey sandwich.

Ate it on Scott's bench.

As my former client Julie might say, "He's a good egg."

I said it's not surprising that Oregon legalized pot as they're all hippies there.

Yeah, said Donna, 70 and 80 yo hippies.

Hey Janis wait for me.

I guess there's no chance in hell that she and Jim Morrison and Prince and Michael Jackson would still be alive today.

Baby, light my fire

BIDEN, what's happening, man?

Mailed out half a dozen greeting cards this morning.

Get your cocaine and your pot from me - I need to make a few bucks - This is a joke - Move on to my Next Blog post

Looks like Biden will win but His Idiocy will hold onto the reins

Looks good for those of us who want a BIDEN HARRIS victory.

Am sipping on Maxwell House Coffee. Like life, it's good, we hope, to the very last drop.

Chose my most beautiful cup to drink out of.

Bought it at a thrift shop at an out of the way street in Hatboro.

Scott just stopped by. Said that Joshua Shapiro whom we like is in a very tight race.

At 9:30 am I have a teleconference with my family doctor about results of lab tests I took.

OK, off I go on walk around block.

Lee just passed by with her 2 huge Grand Pyranees.

Cold out there. The trash truck just came by.

POEM

So Biden will win

but is this what they call

a Pyrrhich victory?

His opponent will hold the reins

of power wherever he is.

Concentrate, Dear Ones, on

your own sweet life and

join in the marching band.

It ain't over till the fat lady sings - Poem: Oh Lord, Deliver us from Ourselves

Took the long way around the hilly block.

And what did you see, my dear?

Masks, that's what I saw, tossed in the middle of the road.

Spoke to a woman named Carolyn.

Oh, that's one of my favorite names, I said. I have a friend named Carolyn. And two, if you count Tony's daughter.

Her next door neighbor had moved into Christ's Home.

She has Alzheimer's disease and is more confused than ever.

I told her about my friend Shirley Sanders, whose photo is on my fridge. A Merck drug did no good on her.

And of course my neighbor Eileen, darnit! - is living at a facility in Roslyn, PA.

So, Carolyn on Cowbell Road had chosen some chairs to keep.

I sat down in one and said, Hey, I'll bring my book and read here.

Am drinking my hot tea now, which is now iced cold. Wild Berry, no caffeine, with a sprinkling of cinnamon.

When I caught up with Mailman Dante this morning, he was sitting in his truck.

We can't give up yet, I said.

He nodded in agreement.

What a beautiful song is on WRTI-FM now.

I'm guessing it's Brahms Requiem.

POEM: Deliver Us from Ourselves

The incumbent has an easier time

but we thought - we thought we were

in the majority. How little we know

what is going on in the wider world.

Life will go on, I will walk with

pride down my street, crunching

in the dead leaves, voices of Loved Ones

ringing in my ears.

Johannes Brahms (1833-1897) Dead at age 64 - is it possible?
Johannes Brahms was a German composer, pianist, and conductor of the Romantic period. Born in Hamburg into a Lutheran family, Brahms spent much of his professional life in Vienna. Wikipedia
Born: May 7, 1833, Hamburg, Germany
Died: April 3, 1897, Vienna, Austria
Nationality: German

We did all we could, including prayer, but it wasn't enough - POEM: Every Voter

THE WAVER GOES OUTSIDE, OATMEAL IN HAND

Yes, it was lovely outside. How could I possibly stay indoors?

Walking down the street, I waved at one man, who waved back.

Dried crunchy leaves were mourning the election in silence.

Peeked at Bob across the street's Inquirer, then felt contaminated.

Good Lord, we are all spooked.

Meanwhile, life goes on.

EVERY VOTER

Every voter thinks the worst has happened

We hate the other with a ferocity unknown

Love's a good word, too,

The more folks you love

The stronger your heart.

Mailman Dante Arrives - Poem: Chirpers

In answer to the question, Is there mail on Election Day, the answer is YES!

I've got two hours of Johannes Brahms on YouTube. Clearly, I don't wanna hear a thing about Election Results.

Dante is a fine walker as he strides off in our neighborhood.

After I received my useless mail, I began reading ... hold on ...

WHY WE DRIVE, a Philosophy of the Open Road

It's okay.

Best of all was a Netflix film Scott suggested I watch called

LESSONS FROM AN OCTOPUS

Extremely moving!

A real tear-jerker.

Checked with Freda and Bernie this morning.

Freda is getting her hair done at Paul's Run.

She voted but Bernie hasn't gotten his ballot yet.

Good grief!

POEM: Chirpers

Yes, they're somewhere outside my front door

But where? But where?

Every time I look out, I see nothing but

Nancy's house across the street,

Bill's Vote Libertarian Sign

And Dante striding down our street.

CNN says that every individual believes

this is the most important election in history

The Idiot is on his way out.

...

Went outside warmly dressed and removed my BLACK LIVES MATTER sign and my 2 jingling Halloween decorations.

Put them both on the back porch, which I locked.

Click !!!

Oatmeal or Ralston Purina?

Am finishing up the Purina now.

Laced with unsalted butter, peanut butter for protein, and frozen fruit.

Was up very late last night reading books I'd forgotten to return to the library.

THE LOVE OBJECT by Edna O'Brien and Per Petterson's short stories, which, finally, finally, I had a chance to read and enjoy.

ASHES IN MY MOUTH, SAND IN MY SHOES.

He's from Norway.

Ever been there?

Not I, said the goose.

What dyou suppose is the most similar terrain to Norway?

Let's take a gander here.

Nothing showed up!

Oh, lemme guess.

Minnesota or Wiscosin.

Thanks Iris for the delicious coffee, which I am sipping on now.

Am using my Starbucks Cup which I got from an estate sale on a nearby street.

GOOD MORNING, CHIRP THE BIRDS

Where are these darling little creatures

that chirp like a sinfonetta

we think you have no idea what's going on in the world

but YOU know more than we

Let's pray our man who's for Climate Change

makes the grade.
