Walk in the Park - Scoop on Poop / Poem: That Ole Peach Tree of Mine

Cocoon of baby preying mantis.

Ruth imitating a preying mantis, by accident. I worked up a good sweat. When I was on lithium for bipolar d/o, I never sweated, and didn't even realize it.

It's 50 degrees outside.

The house on the hill. Is it inhabited by The Fool on the Hill?

My main man who loves his nature walks and his movies. Last nite on WHYY, we watched the excellent "Call Northside 777" with Jimmy Stewart as a dogged reporter who digs into the murder of a Chicago cop.

The movie was about Stewart's journey of discovery that the man was innocent. Great film, which Scott already had on tape.

Richard Conte as the accused killer takes a lie detector test.

Great cinematography! One of the first films shot on location.

Scatology! Who's the culprit?

Deer bullets.

This newly mown field will soon turn green.

The tale of the angry goose. The goose is in the distance. Scott wields a stick, showing what to do if a goose attacks you. Last week on our walk, the goose came after me. Egg-laying time.

Do not be passive. The goose has a sharp beak with teeth and can hurt you. Reminds me of an article in the Times where it says to run or hide or take action if you encounter a gunman.

Getting ready for Pennypack Trust Native Plant Sale.

Blue flowers at Pennypack Trust.

Nice to have a mechanic BF.

Can't wait to dig into my Lima Bean Zoup!

THAT OLE PEACH TREE OF MINE

You’re nothing more than a shapely bunch
of dead old sticks
reaching toward the sky
excuse me for forgetting you
a poem about an apple tree by
Hayden Carruth
sent me scurrying to your side

How you’ve grown
since we planted you last year
tiny pink buds
peek out in expectant
anticipation
of imminent birth
just like our own
pink
Baby Max
emerged last Friday

Unlike his,
your entrance is
fraught with danger
the birds will love you
the hawks won’t disagree
squirrels will pay no attention
the woodchucks will be bored
and stand on their hind legs
enjoying the cool breeze

The deer will saunter over
cock their heads in
silent meditation
and give orders to
their young 'uns:
Good for the gut
strength to avoid
the arrow.
