Pfizer Booster Shot at Sam's Club in Willow Grove PA

Got my Pfizer Booster Shot for Covid 19

Scott drove me to Sam's Club.

He used to belong so he could buy dog food.

So far there is no pain, but we shall see.

Ate a hearty lunch of beer battered fish and frozen veggies, carrots, broccoli, cauliflower.

The fish was not cooked through and through.

Not good!

Me too lazy to put it back on the skillet.

Bialetti

Was lying in bed now reading Sue Miller's Monogamy. Trying to finish so I could return it to library tho it isn't due yet.

Scott came over and loaded the photos. Told me again, They can only be loaded on downstairs computer.

Scott took his computer to Joe Sabach at Classic Computers. The hard drive is kaput.

He'll pay $360 for a new hard drive.

Lying in bed reading, I missed my mom. Dead since April 21. 2020.

MOM

No one to call up and talk about the booster shot.
Nah, it didn't hurt.
That store was sure big. Sam's Club.
Scott and I walked straight down to the Pharmacy.
My legs going faster and faster.
Miss America on the runway.
You should see the junk people buy.
You taught us to eat well.
Sitting there at the head of the table
Smiling, commanding and relishing
your long lived monarchy at the
head of the table.

Battles with MS - Tennis - and Being Alive

This is Selma Blair, who I watched in Legally Blonde. She has M.S. and is hoping to educate the public about this auto immune disease.

She had a stem cell transplant.

After her son was born, she had a very bad day.

...

The Molly Dinali Show this morning on PBS had a segment about Billy Jean (Moffit) King. So I looked her up and remembered the name of her challenger, Bobby Riggs.

I have been doing research all morning.

...

When filling my pill case yesterday I ran out of 81 mg aspirin. Then while lying in bed, I remembered that I had more in my breadbox, that Mom and I had bought at Bloomingdale's.

Sure enough, there they were, so I loaded em in my multicolored pill box.

...

Listen, I am exhausted now, so I will fall into bed - yes Molly is still on - and read more from Monogamy by Sue Miller.

Don't let the name fool you.

Poem I wrote for next door boyfriend Scott - photo of RZD

Ruth Z Deming, MGPGP, in her daily uniform.

Photo by Lynn Green, sister no. four.

BRIGHTON BEACH, SUNDAY FILM NOIR

Scott's front door was locked
I had yawned myself awake
exhausted with drooping eyelids
like Kirk Douglas in his final days

Brighton Beach in England
once long ago I had roamed
the moors on a trip
with Sarah and Padmore and a
little white dog

For chrissakes was he dead or alive
I realized I cared about my next door neighbor
and wondered What would I do without him.

PART TWO

Later that day after he and I had done our chores
Brought ballot to post office
Library books to drop box
We sat in his front seat
ready to embark

but there was simply too much
to talk about
You've heard of necking in the back seat
This was chatting in the front seat
Admiring our homes
Mine yellow
His blue
Discussing food we loved
Waiting for the end of the pandemic
so life could go back to normal
The Willow Inn with eggplant parm
Hula Grill and Spatafor's in
Ocean City

The window was all steamed up.
Fancy that!
I rolled out the door in my copper-
colored shoes crouching a bit
from sitting too long.

...

In a dream I had this morning before waking up, I had written FOUR WORDS to start out a short story. Something like, She sat in a chair.

..

Had I told you about Michiko Hill? I was watching a football game with Scott's team the Nebraska Cornhuskers and wondered how Michiko was.

This is when my then-husband Millard G Deming and I lived in Married Student Housing in Austin, Tx.

Well, turns out Michiko's husband of many years was dead! Lester. He had his PhD. All gifts in his name should go to the Southern Poverty Law Review, which is one of my charities.

THE COMPOST HEAP WE SHARE THE TEMPLE OF POSEIDON = ROMANOVS RECENT WEDDING

 SEE NATURE AT WORK

Put on sturdy shoes

Have yellow pitcher at the ready

Fill with Chiquita Banana

label removed

juicy orange canteloupe

simmering with juice

cracked brown egg shells

drippin with whites

one unripe frozen blueberry

and my chipped yellow pitcher.

Gaze like a Stephen Hawking or Edmund O Wilson

at all the insects devouring the fruits of the earth

would we continue if we lived in California

where wildfires glow

houses burn

and Armageddon is at hand?

...

My timer is set for an hour when I will repair to Scott's kitchen to eat his delicious lentil pasta linguine. I had a small salad to tide me over.

Ate the salad in my kitchen on a placemat I salvaged from Mom's house.

I eat in there now so I won't attract ANTS in my bedroom.

Yuck !  Ptui !  Grrr!

And I flush them down, these powerhouses of hymenopertera or something like that.

...

The Temple of Poseidon which I learned about on Rick Steves' travel.

  • The Temple of Poseidon is an ancient Greek temple dramatically perched on the edge of a mountain jutting out into the sea at Cape Sounion. At 60 meters above sea level, the Temple of Poseidon was constructed between 444 – 460 BC and is considered to be a significant monument from the Golden Age of Athens .

Wedding Bells for the Romanovs.

Of course I felt slighted that I wasn't invited to their wedding, but I shall read all about it and you may too.

ST. PETERSBURG, Russia — Descendants of the czarist Romanov dynasty were married in the country's first royal wedding in over a century — kicking off a weekend of lavish events that sparked public curiosity, awe and derision in seemingly equal measure.

Under the dome of St. Isaac's Cathedral in Russia's former imperial capital city, Grand Duke George Mikhailovich Romanov, 40, married his Italian bride, Victoria Romanovna Bettarini, 39, in an Orthodox ceremony on Friday before priests and several hundred guests.

Czarist trappings included an engagement ring "traditionally exchanged in the House of Romanov," according to a press release. "The ring centers a ruby cabochon gemstone that represents love and nobility and two diamond brilliants that represent purity and strength."

The Russian Orthodox Church's top official in St. Petersburg, Metropolitan Varsonofy, blessed the ceremony.

The wedding of the grand duke and Bettarini was billed as the first royal marriage of a member of the imperial house of Romanov in Russia in over a century.

The clout of Russia's ultra-conservative movement was also on display — with the controversial "orthodox oligarch," Konstantin Malofeev, taking a prominent role in the ceremony and the nationalist philosopher Alexander Dugin among prominent guests.

"It's a kind of imperial wedding. A remembrance of eternal Russia — of sacred czars and patriarchs and (the) church," Dugin said in an interview with NPR.

"In an age of 'cancel culture,' when everybody in the West tries to forget your own identity — your own history — Russia offers an alternative process," he added. "We are trying to return to our roots."

Did it work?

My sister Amy said this is the best coffee she has ever had in her life.

And that is really saying something!

Hmm. Where have I really enjoyed coffee.

Well, I guess at the Willow Grove Giant Supermarket. The coffee bar used to be on the right when you came in.

They used to have parties there, for a price.

Gotta check and see if anyone has read my short story.

AND I must remember to rise frequently from my chair.

Yes, this is how I finally got out of bed as my thoughts were swirling round and round.

We lived back then in Shaker Heights, Ohio.

In reality, I saw a vague light shining through my drapes. I'd been reading a prayer book, I mean, a poetry book, by a gay man, which was extremely moving.

Remember, I had taken out many books about Black people and this was one.

Let me pad back into my room and find the poet who wrote the book.
