Music - The XPN Morning Show - Poem: It's me Dante - More from Frank Kelso Wolf (Must read)

What? A new Stevi Nicks song?

So says Julian Booker from WXPN.

Stevie is young.... 72 years old.

And a new song from CELESTE called Hear My Voice.

Thumbs Up!

What a beauty!!!

Wonder what she eats for breakfast.

Was awake in the darkness making Ralstan Purina which arrived in a flat package delivered by Dante. Three of em.

It was every bit as delicious as I expected.

Then I went back to sleep and look I'm back again!

Just washed my hair with Jhirmack Shampoo given me by Sister Donna.

Look, silver-brightening shampoo. Who knew?

The fog outside lifted.

When I woke up I stuck my head out bedroom window and there was Scott pulling in from work.

Wrote a Letter to the Editor to The Times Chronical.

Dr Jill Biden was on the front page. I always put Dr before her name as she worked incredibly hard for her degree.

Last night I watched POV in which we were shown the trauma of refugee children torn away from their parents.

One episode showed a Black woman who had managed to get her doctorate in education and her children were also professionsals in education.

She goes out to homes, sometimes, shacks, to help young Blacks and Hispanix, help teach their children. There's a small window before the major learning takes place.

The kids' faces light up when she brings BOOKS.

One of my neighbors way down the street who drives either an Audi or Mercedes - the one with four adjoining rings - will celebrate Halloween by renting a BOUNCE MACHINE.

My son Dan did that.

A lot of crying and scuffed knees.

Pizza for a snack, of course.

IT'S ME DANTE

Organization is the key

and it ain't easy

how was your day, asks Mama

I put my blue uniform in the hamper

change into a robe and slippers

and sit at table.

Best meal I ever had, Mama,

Darlin, you say that every time

But it's true, Mama, it's true.

Thanks to Jen and Emily for continuing the tradition of remembering the extraordinarily talented Frank Kelso Wolfe.

Here is Sister Lynn in her BIDEN FOR PRESIDENT WAGON.

I've been noshing on Triscuits and Pretzels while writing a Letter to the Editor of the Times Chronical. Lynn will review it for me.

Two packages finally arrived this morning, delivered by Dante the Mailman.

Super hard to open but I cut em with a scissors.

One was three packages of Ralston Purina, which I put in one of the drawers of my fridge.

I rearranged my kitchen so I didn't have to look and see bags from Marshalls and Giant swinging  close to the porch drawer.

Where did I put them?

Oh, I remember now.

Ahem.

In the cupboard on the floor when I keep the mousetraps.

Spent a few minutes trying on clothes downstairs.

A few things did fit BUT they smell from parfum.

Into the washer they will go along with panties I ordered from THE VERMONT COUNTRY STORE.

Panties that could fit on a baby elephant.

They are soaking now in hot water.

Did I mention my new TERRIBLE PROBLEM IN THE BASEMENT?

Sawdust is falling down.

Gordon Washburn will be out the morrow.

Thank you Gordon.

Watched Stevie Ray Vaughan last night on Austin City Limits.

Masterful. Dead at age 35.

ODE TO THE TRASH MEN

YES, I FINALLY MAILED A POEM TO

THE HONORABLE TRASH COLLECTORS

ODE TO OUR TRASH MEN

The Poet Laureate of Cowbell Road thanks you

For a job well done.

In my trash can

I have put dead mice, rotten eggs, clothes pins

Like Pinocchio may have worn when he told lies

But you, our Trash Men of Cowbell Road

Are heroes. You are essential.

Don’t be shy.

Take a bow.

How fun it must be to ride like a rodeo rider

On the back of the Green Trash Truck.

Heigh ho! Off we go!

...

FOUND MAILMAN DANTE UP THE STREET.

I always glean info from him.

Do you have Halloween Decorations where you live?

YES, he said.

...

It was incredibly WINDY.

My chili is ready to eat.

But I'm not hungry now as I had a salad for lunch.

...

WHAT SHOULD I WATCH ON NETFLIX?

Who's dis guy and why should I care?

I'LL WATCH THE INVESTIGATOR, a BBC Crime Drama.

Goodbye for now.

Healthy Eating - Poem: Healthy Eating

HEALTHY EATING

I signed up for the free Food Post LOVE AND LEMONS. Excellent recipes.

Many food gurus are on PBS, which I often watch at night.

Last night Mark Hyman, MD, was on.

What I like most about him is he is not dogmatic.

Woof woof!

Read about him here.

Or not.

Right now I am sipping on Red Velvet Coffee sent to me by my friend Iris.

Dee-licious.

It must be hot or I can't drink it.

In my crockpot I am making chili.

CHILI

Ingredients are

ONE CAN of Giant pinto beans

a tsp of Garlic

Two Cups of Brown Rice

Set on High.

...

As a person with diabetes, I must be careful about what I eat.

Also I must protect MY FEET so I don't have any toes amputated.

What an awful word: amputated!

As we know, poor people and Black people and Hispanics are at high risk to have complications from diabetes.

Why? We often follow the way our family members eat and if they eat poorly, we follow suit.

...

To lower my blood sugar, I walk around the hilly block in my neighborhood.

I wave to my friend Lee and her two Grand Pyrenees. She has them since one of her daughters did. Photo below from the Internet.

At first I wanted her email address, but then I realized people like their privacy.

I also ride my stationery bike in my bedroom while watching TV.

POEM: HEALTHY EATING

I'm not terribly old, a little over 74, but desire
to live in my Yellow House until the day I die.

The house is packed with all the things I love
Radios in every room, music thrilling me

Did you know I once played Beethoven, Bach,
and gloomy Brahms who once fit my mood?

Mrs Ted Kultti was my teacher, back in Cleveland,
her good cheer made life exciting

We visited her house in Twinsburg Ohio
Wonder who lives there now?

The house was as modern as a Denise Scott Brown
And my world opened up when I saw it.

Every experience we have
Good, bad, terrible, becomes

Who we are.

And YOU, who are you?

Denise Scott Brown is 89.

View info about this amazing woman here.

Now I must check on my chili.

As Mark Hyman says, Food is the best medicine.

EAT PLENTY OF FIBER !!!

As Colombo, with the late Peter Falk, would say, ONE MORE THING:

Here is our former house at 2929 Glenmore Road in Shaker Heights OH, 44122.

My sister Amy in Seattle looked it up.

It's UNRECOGNIZABLE on the inside.

They even put in Cathedral Ceilings.

Once upon a time the Biskinds lived next door, so did the Turnocks, whom we called The Turnoculators, The Katz Family lived on the end of the street - he ran for mayor of Philadelphia and lost - The Fotheringhams lived down the street.

He was an old man who accidentally set a fire in the empty back yards on the street.

I remember Dad once said, The trees will grow very tall. As a kid, it seemed impossible.

A pound of mail - threats to kidnap governors - ANOTHER PARK BENCH

Wanted to make sure there was mail today so I called up Rem at the PO.

Sure is, he said. The mail carrier will be late as there's so much mail.

Here's what I got.

So far, only one is important.

My Polling Place.

Hold on while I eat anudder Triscuit.

Then after all this, I'm gonna closet myself in my Reading Room and blissfully read.

BTW, Not only was the governor of Michigan Gretchen Whitmore part of a kidnapping plot but so was the Governor of Virginia, Ralph Northam. Both are Democrats and wanted lockdowns so people would not contract the conoravirus.

The would-be kidnappers were stupidity incarnate.

...

Received an orange face mask from Wellcare. Throw out.

A stack of Xmas cards from the Silesian Missions, including a RAFFLE TICKET worth $10,000 in cash

More treasures from Mom turn up

Mom turns 70. Thanks Ellen for posting this. Mom may be gone but she is forever in our hearts.

She loved writing little ditties.

Click on the blue paper above several times and it will enlarge.

Wonder what other treasures we shall find.

PS - I am really learning that Mom will never leave me and I will never leave her.

Lynn, Warren, the little darling girls, Oksana and Miles

 We are family!

Yet unlike His Idiocy the president, we take precautions because we want to live and remain healthy.

Scott and I just had a rousing walk around the block after eating upstairs on his deck.

Baked potatoes w butter, pickles, baked beans, organic hot dogs with spicy mustard, sauerkraut and the radio blasting on WDVR.

Thurston Harris famous for Little Bitty Pretty One played something else.

The portholes of my mind are opened up on this doo-wop show unless it was a spicy mustard.

Hold on.

Go Thurston Go!!!
