Sharon had never met my boyfriend, so at 1:45 pm, after we walked in the Pennypack.....
Turtles sunning themselves in the pond from the Pennypack website
we entered his house to see if he was awake. I tiptoed upstairs and sure enough he was in his darkened bedroom - he puts a huge piece of cardboard over the windows so no light will filter in - and he was online playing chess.
They talked a few minutes in Scott's dining room. I noted they each have light eyes - Scott's are green, Sharon's blue, she has cute dimples too. She's a remarkable woman with a wonderful laugh.
We ate this delicious Veggie Bean Soup with Scallops. I used dried lima beans, black eyed peas, and chick peas. We put grated Cheddar over the soup.
I told Sharon the good news about our grant. Here's the envelope which I have hanging on my wall.
The much-awaited grant money, which I drove over to my bank this morning, along with the door receipts from last nite's excellent meeting. I learned tonite, when I spoke to Carole and Greg Hodges, who run our Family Member Group, that it's important to hear both the family member's story as well as the patient's story. You get a more complete picture of what's going on. Hail Rashomon!
American Heritage - when you bring in loose change you put it in a money-counting machine. At our New Directions meeting last nite, someone brot in five silver dollars. They use them at Horsham Clinic for the vending machines. We always have new people from Horsham.
I found this gorgeous house for sale online. It's only $995,000. Oh, if only the decimal point were after the first '9'.

Known as The "Little House" at Pearson's Corner, this home sits [on Creek Road] adjacent to Pennypack Ecological Restoration Trust, an 800-acre preserve in Huntingdon Valley. Located down a winding road, above the burbling Pennypack Creek, the lush setting is surrounded by wilderness trails, native plants, ponds & meadows, but only minutes to shopping, mass transit and major highways.
Sharon has a beautiful piece of property in the Poconos, where she lives. One time her late miniature schnauser, Shotzi, was looking out the back window, so Sharon looked out too. Imagine her surprise when she saw a six-foot bear peeking in the house.
Sharon is staying at her daughter's house in Upper Darby for six weeks. She goes in for regular checkups to Penn to make sure her kidney is doing well. Everything is A-Okay.
Sharon had missed her horse, Charlie, so a friend drove her up for a weekend visit. She was afraid her horse wouldn't recognize her, but of course he did. Hello Charlie!
The other nite on PBS there was an outstanding documentary called "Get Off Your Knees," the triumphant story of John Robinson, who was born without hands and feet. If you wanna watch, here's the link.
I must tell you I really enjoyed every moment of February 1, 2012. Alas, what comes, must leave. Everything is in the past tense. Let's turn on the music. How bout this?
